The ‘Blackfriars SE1 in the 1970s’ exhibition has now (at March 2023) visited 12 venues over two years, giving many people an opportunity to view and appreciate the photos, text and accompanying materials. The original funding pot is coming to an end and it is time for the SE1 Stories group to plan future projects.
The group has already started work on a ‘memory map’ and a guided walk app, which will now get further attention. Plus there are hopes to raise funds to digitise and then label the SE1 newspaper photographic archive at Southwark, which proved such a valuable source for the exhibition (while only scratching the surface of what it contains).
There are due to be a couple of final showings for the summer and autumn, details to follow soon. Meanwhile you can download some pdfs of the panels in our online version (see sample on the right). But don’t miss your chance to see this important exhibition “in the flesh”, if you haven’t done so already!
